The North West Balloon and Airship Club (NWBAC) is affiliated to the British Balloon and Airship Club (BBAC), the national organisation for ballooning in the UK and was formed on the 31st May 1981.
For our 21st Anniversary in 2002, we celebrated with a balloon meet at Barton Aerodrome which was one of the original meeting places.
For our 30th Anniversary in 2011, we celebrated at Kirkby Lonsdale which has become a popular meet location for balloonists up and down the country.
For our 40th Anniversary in 2021, we hope to celebrate in person at The Cotton Arms, Wrenbury with flying and tethering of old & new club balloons. Organisation of this event is ongoing and more information will be announced in the forthcoming months.
The club meets at:
The Canberra Club
BAE SYSTEMS
Samlesbury BB2 7LF
We meet on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 8:00 pm.
In summer, this is brought forward to 7:00pm (weather dependant) to allow time to set up and fly before sunset.
We also meet on the first Sunday of each month at 10:00 am at different locations around our region. This keeps us in touch with members who live too far away to attend the Tuesday evening meetings. It also gives members the opportunity to fly in different parts of the region - see the Social section on the home page for more details.
As a club, we arrange various balloon meets across the year allowing flying to take place in various parts of our wonderful country. Details can be found in the 'Balloon Meets' section on the home page.
The NWBAC produces a regular newsletter for our members which details news, future events, updates and information from the club. |
